Bosh Pits: Injured Forward May Miss Two More Weeks

Bosh could be out until the All Star break

The Miami Heat will be without Bosh's Pit for the next few weeks because Chris Bosh has taken an extended pit stop in the training room.

The forward hasn't played since Jan. 15 and likely will miss the rest of the month after recent reports that his high left ankle sprain isn't healing up as quickly as it should.

With the team's eye on the post season and not regular season contests, expect President Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra to proceed with extreme caution with their oft-injured power forward.

The Heat had to know Bosh would miss some time this year. He hasn't made it through a complete season without missing significant time since his second year in the league.

Last year, Bosh missed 12 games in Toronto due to injury.

Spoelstra said Bosh is getting better, but he can't run and hasn't really been practicing with the team. With the NBA All-Star break less than a month away, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that Bosh is shut down until the second half of the season.

The Heat have split the two games Bosh has missed since he went down in a loss to Chicago.

The extended time off should help Miami work forward Mike Miller into the rotation, but the Heat have yet to see the optimal line up of Bosh, Miller, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

How they mesh on the court at the same time will be pivotal to a championship run.

Miller, who missed most of the season recovering from a thumb injury, scored 32 points in Saturday's win over Bosh's former team, the Raptors.

It has also allowed James to work as the Heat's primary post up player with Bosh off the block.

The Heat play the New York Knicks on Thursday.
