Bour's Three-Run Blast Helps Marlins Top Mets

Justin Bour's three-run home run held up in Miami's 4-3 win over New York on Friday

The Miami Marlins put an end to a skid with a helping hand from Justin Bour in their 4-3 win over the New York Mets on Friday.

Bour's long blast was good for three runs and came in the fourth inning. It gave Miami a 3-0 lead over Matt Harvey at the time and the team never looked back. For Bour, it was his fourth home run of the season as he continues to hold down everyday duties at first base.

The Marlins entered New York on a three-game losing streak and a paltry 2-10 record under manager Dan Jennings. With the victory, Miami gains ground in the National League East as the Mets sit in second place in the division.

Dan Haren was also responsible for Miami's win with another solid effort on the mound. Haren has been Miami's most consistent starter all season long and gave his team seven innings in this one. The veteran allowed two runs on four hits while striking out four. With the win, Haren is now 5-2 on the year.

A.J. Ramos had a tough ninth inning in which he allowed a run, but he eventually slammed the door. Since taking over closing duties for Miami, Ramos has been perfect in all three of his chances.

Giancarlo Stanton had a tough day at the plate going 0-4 with three strikeouts. Miami's slugger has had a tough season thus far. Despite his team-leading 42 runs batted in, Stanton is only hitting .227 and has been especially poor in clutch situations.

Tom Koehler will get the ball for Miami on Saturday as it looks to take the series and win a second consecutive game.
