Braves Complete Season Opening Sweep of Marlins

The Marlins are still looking for a win in 2015 after the Braves finished off a sweep

The Miami Marlins were swept by the Atlanta Braves as they lost the series finale 2-0 on Wednesday at Marlins Park.

Miami entered the year with high expectations and excitement but thus far has struggled to put runs on the board. In the three games combined, the Marlins have scored three runs. This can be attributed to a combination of solid pitching and also poor at-bats.

Tom Koehler had a quality start but was tagged with the loss. Koehler shut the Braves out for the first six innings before surrendering a two-run home run in the seventh inning. That would be the last pitch of Koehler's day. The right-hander allowed five hits and struck out four while tossing 92 pitches.

A.J. Ramos, Bryan Morris and Mike Dunn worked the rest of the way and kept the score where it was. The great effort from the bullpen gave Miami a chance to come back but the offense was unable to get things going.

Miami scattered six singles with two coming from Mike Morse. One of the hits was courtesy of Ichiro Suzuki who has appeared as a pinch-hitter in all three games. The hit was the first for Suzuki in a Miami uniform.

Giancarlo Stanton's struggles continued with an 0-3 day that featured three strikeouts. Stanton has only one hit on the season.

The Marlins are off on Thursday and will return to action on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Dan Haren is scheduled to make his Marlins debut in the series opener.
