“D” Wade Makes NBA All-Defense Team

D-Wade takes second team honors for second year in a row

Dwyane Wade doesn't run down and block shots from behind like LeBron James. He prefers to steal the ball before a player gets to the rim.

The Miami Heat's leader on offense and D was named to the NBA's second team All Defense on Wednesday after ranking fourth in steals in the league and leading all guards in blocked shots.

Wade averaged 1.84 steals per game and had quite a few highlight blocks of his own, mostly against players in the post that were much larger than the 6-foot-4 wing man.

Joining D-Wade on the second team were San Antonio Spurs center Tim Duncan, Thabo Sefolosha of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and forwards Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks and Anderson Varejao of the Cavaliers.

Kobe Bryant is on the NBA all-defensive first team for the fifth straight year. Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo made the first team for the first time, earning the second-most points behind the league's defensive player of the year, Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard. Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace also made the team for the first time, with the Cleveland Cavaliers' James making it for the second straight year.

The league's coaches vote on the team.
