Dolphins Game Preview: Week Three vs. Cowboys

The 0-2 Dolphins will give Josh Rosen his first start of the season on Sunday against the Cowboys

The Miami Dolphins will have Josh Rosen as their starting quarterback against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

After being manhandled in the first two weeks of the season, the Dolphins have benched Ryan Fitzpatrick. Rosen was named the starter earlier this week, following some solid work in practice. The 22-year old has been picked off twice this season and has a 38.1 completion percentage thus far.

Rosen's job won't be easy against the 2-0 Cowboys, but he does not need to do much to improve on Fitzpatrick's numbers in 2019. The veteran QB threw four interceptions over the first two games and had a 39.9 rating. The Dolphins were not able to get anything going in either game and they have been outscored 102-10 this season.

Miami's offense has been unable to secure first downs in 2019 and that has led to an exhausted defense. Even if Rosen does not find the end zone, he can improve the team's results with some more control of the ball. Dallas has averaged 33 points per game through two weeks and that number may just go up in this one.

This game looks to be another blowout in the making on paper, but it also has the possibility of being a trap game for the Cowboys. If Miami can jump out to an early lead, it could stun Dallas and have a chance of staying in the game. However if the Cowboys come out of the gate fast, it is likely that the result will look similar to the first two weeks of the season.

Miami's defense was decent in the first half against the New England Patriots last week, but fell apart in the second half. The Dolphins sacked Tom Brady twice last week and the game was within striking distance until late in the third quarter. However, Minkah Fitzpatrick was part of that defensive unit and he is now a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fitzpatrick's loss will likely be noticeable in this game.

Trent Harris, Charles Harris and Bobby McCain were all listed as questionable on Miami's injury report for this week. Albert Wilson is officially considered doubtful for this contest.

Miami's first road game of the season will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
