Dolphins Lose Another Player for the Season

Kory Sheets tore his Achilles' tendon in drills Wednesday

We never thought we'd say this, but preseason can't arrive any quicker.

A person familiar with the diagnosis says Miami Dolphins kick returner Kory Sheets has a torn right Achilles' tendon and is out for the season. It's the second player this week to go down before ever facing an actual opponent.

At least when players are hurt in preseason games, it kind of matters.

Sheets was hurt Wednesday during a non-contact special teams drill. He fell to the ground, rolled in pain and eventually limped to the training room.

The season-ending injury was the second this week for the Dolphins. Rookie linebacker A.J. Edds was sidelined Monday by a knee injury.

Sheets played in two games as a rookie last year and was hoping to make the roster as a returner. He played running back at Purdue.
