First Quarter Dooms Heat in Detroit

The Heat allowed a 25-1 run as part of a dominant first quarter for the Pistons on Tuesday

The Miami Heat saw another opponent go on a big run and it proved costly in their 108-91 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.

Detroit went on a 25-1 run to end a first quarter that it held a 21-point advantage in. In last Friday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the Heat allowed a 37-2 run that ultimately cost the game as well.

With Wade still sidelined, the Heat had to turn to Chris Bosh for most of their offensive moves. The absence of Wade also meant that both Mario Chalmers and Shabazz Napier made the starting lineup.

Bosh had 34 points and three rebounds in 34 minutes on the court. The big man also made three of his five attempts from downtown and had a steal. It was easily the best line for any Miami player in this one.

Chalmers and Napier were equally poor on Tuesday as they combined for one point and nine assists. Reserve guard Norris Cole tallied more minutes than both with his 33 but only had two points. Cole did have eight assists however.

Hassan Whiteside picked up his fourth double-double in the last five games despite not having one of his best nights. Whiteside ended up with 11 points and ten boards in 24 minutes of play.

Miami will play the second half of a back-to-back on Wednesday when it travels to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves.
