When Haitian hurdler Jeffrey Julmis was introduced Tuesday to the Rio crowd before his 110m semifinal heat, he checked a non-existent watch on his wrist and then pointed to the sky.
A quality intro, indeed.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t jump over the first hurdle, instead getting his lead foot caught under it and then doing a somersault on the ground while the rest of the field rumbled down the track.

Julmis, who also ran in the 2012 Olympics, eventually got up and finished the race, and didn’t appear to be hurt, except perhaps for his pride.
He unofficially finished the race in about 25 seconds, but was officially disqualified from the heat and didn’t advance.
On Twitter, reaction was mixed, as some felt sorry for Julmis and others said they could relate.
