Agent confirms Jason Taylor will sign with New York

Jason Taylor may become the Miami Dolphins worst nightmare: a veteran with an enormous gorilla on his shoulder.

The face of the franchise for over a decade and a likely candidate for the Ring of Honor has committed to sign with the hated New York Jets, according to several reports and desperate tweets and sad faced Facebook updates.

The deal is reportedly for two years and could total $13 million, well more than a one-year, $1.5 million extension the Dolphins offered Taylor during the 2009 season.

True, this isn't that much of a surprise to the observant Dolphin fan, who has seen how the 'Phins have treated (mistreated) Taylor during the offseason. But the reality of the event certainly leaves a bad taste in any fans' mouth.

It's like Brett Favre going from Green Bay to Minnesota. Or Hulk Hogan dissing Hulkamania. It just seems unnatural.

And what's worse from a practical stand point is that Taylor, the NFL's active sack leader, will get to wage his vengeance against Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano twice a season on the No. 1 defense in the league last year.

The Dolphins play the Jets in their home opener on NBC's Sunday Night Football on Sept. 26.

We're sure Chad Henne is typing up "Thank You" cards as we speak.

Taylor, 35, let it be known he wanted to remain a Dolphin and despises the Jets, but money and opportunity talks. The Dolphins' BS excuses didn't.

Parcells wanted to wait until after the draft to address Taylor's future and left the future Hall of Famer no assurances of making the team. The Jets wanted Taylor now so you can't blame him for leaving.

It appears Dolfans might finally have someone to cheer for on the Jets. Who are we kidding? Taylor probably will still get booed when he comes to Sun Life Stadium.
