LT to Plead Guilty in Prostitution Bust

Lawrence Taylor could have faced four years in prison for statutory rape

Lawrence Taylor could have been sacked if convicted of several felonies, including rape, after he was caught in a New York hotel room with a 16-year-old prostitute.

Now it looks like the NFL Hall of Famer and Pembroke Pines resident will get the equivalent of being gently pushed out of bounds.

Taylor, 51, is expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges Thursday instead of facing felony sex trafficking charges for the May 6 incident, ESPN reports.

If the deal goes through, Taylor would admit to soliciting a prostitute and sexual misconduct and likely receive six years of probation but avoid any jail time.

The deal is a win for Taylor, who could have faced four years in prison if convicted of statutory rape. A separate hearing will determine if Taylor has to register as a sex offender for having sex with an underage female. Taylor's attorneys contend that he did not know the age of the girl, who prosecutors claim was a runaway forced into prostitution.

He allegedly paid $300 for sex with the teen.

Taylor is widely considered the best pass rusher and arguably the best linebacker in NFL history during his 13-year career with the New York Giants. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999, but Taylor's off the field issues often marred his brilliance on the field.

He had several run ins with the law while he played, including heavy drug use, and even in retirement couldn't avoid the cops. He was arrested in Miami in 2009 after nearly running a man off the road and then leaving the scene.
