Marlins Drop Another to Lowly Braves

The last place Braves continued their dominance over the Marlins on Thursday

The Miami Marlins continued to struggle against the last place Atlanta Braves on Thursday with a 6-3 loss.

The Braves have the most losses in the National League, yet they have dominated the Marlins all season long. Miami is nearing elimination in the Wild-Card race, and a big reason for that has been its play against Atlanta.

Jose Urena was only able to last three innings in his starting effort. Urena allowed five runs on four hits while walking one. The right-hander also struck out three before exiting in favor of the bullpen. The relievers would do a solid job of holding Atlanta off the scoreboard, but the damage had already been done.

Justin Nicolino, Mike Dunn, Austin Brice, Nefi Ogando, Nick Wittgren and Hunter Cervenka combined for six innings of one-run ball. The lone run scored off of Dunn in the seventh inning.

Down by five in the seventh, J.T. Realmuto brought the game one run closer with his 11th home run of the season. The Marlins would score one more run in the eighth inning with a double from Martin Prado. The run-scoring two-base hit was the 36th save of the season for Prado.

Andrew Cashner will start for Miami on Friday in the second game of the four-game series.
