He's Baaack! Marlins End LoMo's Timeout

Morrison rejoins Marlins ahead of Wednesday's double-header

That didn't take long.

Logan Morrison was called back up from Triple-A New Orleans Tuesday, a mere ten days after he was demoted by the team for struggling at the plate (but also probably because he skipped a photo session with season ticket holders and can't keep airing the team's dirty laundry in the media and on Twitter).

His ten-day stint in the minors was the shortest possible assignment under MLB rules.

So it looks like it only took LoMo ten days to remember how to hit. Not that his time in the minors seemed to help much. In his last four games with the Zephyrs, he went 1 for 16. Meanwhile, his replacement in left field, Bryan Petersen, hit .378 with five doubles and four triples in LoMo's absence.

Regardless, it is clear the team thinks Morrison's ten-day timeout was long enough to teach him a lesson.

Morrison broke the story himself using (what else?) Twitter. On Tuesday evening he tweeted, "6pm flight to FLL. The Boogeyman is back!" He has since deleted the tweet (an image of the tweet can be viewed here).

He will likely be inserted in the starting lineup for today's double-header against the Cincinnati Reds. "I don't think we're bringing him back to sit him on the bench," manager Jack McKeon told MLB.com.

Thursday's game was moved up a day just in case South Florida gets hit or glanced by Hurricane Irene. The double-header starts at 4:10 pm, and game 2 will commence about 20 minutes after the end of game 1.

To make room for Morrison on the roster, the Marlins designated OF Dewayne Wise for assignment.
