Clevelander at Marlins Park Looks For Pool Boy

The winner, to be chosen Saturday, will be the ballpark hotel's first pool boy

The Clevelander at Marlins Park is looking for a new pool boy.

Hotel representatives are asking men age 21 and older to submit a photo of themselves along with a statement explaining how they are qualified to be the best pool boy Marlins fans have ever seen. Five finalists will be chosen to attend the Marlins-Nationals game on Saturday at 7:10 p.m. where one lucky man will be selected as the official Clevelander pool boy.

"We really got a lot of feedback from female Marlins fans, that they need a little eye candy. We want to be an equal opportunity kind of place," said Anna Whitlow, the marketing manager for the Clevelander Hotel.

More than a few women enjoying happy hour drinks at the Clevelander's South Beach bar couldn't agree more.

"Some nice abs, good personality, good eye candy," said one as she dreamed up her ideal pool boy.

Knowing how to properly clean a pool won't get your resume to the top of the pile in this contest. Judges are looking for lots of personality and a willingness to walk around in nothing but a bathing suit.

"It's just about having a good time and being comfortable in your swimsuit and starting a party at the Clevelender's Marlins Park," Whitlow said.

The winner will attend select Marlins home games, starting July 27 against the San Diego Padres, and be stationed at the park's poolside chair.

Submissions should be sent to poolboy@clevelander.com by the Thursday deadline.
