The Miami Marlins saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday in a 5-0 loss to the Washington Nationals.

Miami was looking to sweep Washington, but could not get the job done. The Marlins still took two of three from the Nationals which likely put an end to Washington's playoff hopes. The Nationals and Marlins will battle again this coming week in D.C.

Brad Hand's season continued to deteriorate with another loss. The lefty is now 4-6 on the year and has a 5.32 E.R.A. Hand has had a run of issues recently, and may be playing his way off of Miami's 2016 roster. Hand has battled issues with control in his career, and that occurred again as he walked four in this one in only 3.1 innings.

After Hand's short start, the Marlins turned to Jose Urena for 2.2 innings. The rookie has been moved to a bullpen role, and has seen lackluster results. Urena now has a 4.72 E.R.A, and he may be headed back to AAA to begin next year. With the Marlins expected to search for pitching help, Urena's roster spot is in serious jeopardy.

With only five hits, the Marlins did not have many run-scoring chances in this one. When they did find themselves in a position to score, the Marlins were 0-5. All told, the Marlins left five men on base, and squandered a pair of doubles.

Those two-base hits came courtesy of Martin Prado (22) and Jeff Mathis (3). Mathis who is not known for his bat had two hits in the game. The backup catcher has been providing a decent amount of offense in recent starts.

The Marlins will open a series against the New York Mets on Monday at Citi Field. Justin Nicolino will get the ball for Miami.
