McNabb Trade Talk ‘Hypothetical'

"If we get to that bridge, we'll have to cross it": McNabb's agent

Trade talk concerning Donovan McNabb is just that -- talk, according to his agent.

Fletcher Smith told the Daily News that they have not talked to the Eagles about possible trade destinations, or where McNabb would or would not sign a contract extension.

"If we get to that bridge, we'll have to cross it," Smith said. Until then, he told the newspaper, he will stay away from hypothetical situations.

If there is a discussion, however, teams interested in acquiring Donovan McNabb will have to part with a high draft pick to get him.

A person familiar with trade discussions involving McNabb told the Associated Press the Philadelphia Eagles will only consider a
deal for the six-time Pro Bowl quarterback if it includes a pick among the top 42 in next month's NFL draft.

After months of saying McNabb would return for another year, Eagles coach Andy Reid acknowledged Wednesday he was listening to offers for McNabb, Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick.

Oakland, Buffalo and St. Louis are considered to be most interested in McNabb. Each team has two picks in the top 42.

But it seems fans and merchandizers are already counting on a trade.

At an autograph signing event featuring several Eagles including tight-end Brent Celek at The Sports Depot in Runnemede, N.J. Saturday, fans could pick up #5 jerseys for half off. The store called deal a Pre-Trade Sale. Ouch!
