Pat White To Sign With the Other Kansas City

White remains interested in playing in the NFL, according to a source, and the Royals will accomodate him

Recently released from the Dolphins, Pat White will live to play another day.

It just might be an entirely different sport. The once future Wildcat quarterback will sign a minor league deal with the Kansas City Royals, according to ProFootballTalk.

The team has an understanding that White would still like to play football, says PFT's source, and the Royals will be "flexible" in letting him return "if/when an opportunity arises."

And good for White. We've been harboring the worst guilty feelings about his time in the NFL, ever since the Dolphins shocked America by taking him a day too early and an arm short in the second round of the 2009 draft.

Then, in spite of having three other quarterbacks on the roster and no pre-season playing time to give, Team Parcells didn't cut White until last Saturday, giving him no time to look for an opportunity with another team and was already ineligible for the practice squad.

Baseball is nothing new to White. He won two state championships in the outfield with Daphe (Alabama) High School, and considered playing both sports at West Virginia before making controversial comments suggesting the Mountaineers' coach preferred white players.

Despite not having played since high school, White was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 MLB Draft, the 50th round of the 2008 draft, and the 48th round by the Yankees in 2009.
