Positive Marijuana Test for Hurricanes' Seantrel Henderson During NFL Combine: Report

Former UM tackle Seantrel Henderson reportedly tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine

Former University of Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine, according to a report by ESPN.

The report goes on to mention that NFL teams have been contacted about the failed drug test ahead of the 2014 NFL Draft, which is set to begin Thursday. The tackle has been a projected third-day pick in several mock drafts. Henderson's previous links to drugs, which were revealed at the Senior Bowl, had already put a damper on his draft status and the latest news could drop him even further on some boards.

"I was partying a little bit too much at times. I had got into trouble a couple of times for marijuana. I just put all that behind me," Henderson had told The Miami Herald before the Senior Bowl.

If the latest report is true, it would appear that Henderson did not in fact put the drug use behind him as the NFL combine took place after that quote. That annual showcase took place in late February in Indianapolis.

Failing a drug test specifically for marijuana at the combine is not a mistake that can derail a career completely but it can certainly get in the way of progress. Still, the tackle should find himself drafted at some point this week even if the latest news drops him down a few slots.

Prior to enrolling at UM, Henderson had signed a letter of intent with the University of Southern California but was released from that commitment.
