The Miami Marlins will host the Atlanta Braves for a two-game series beginning on Monday.

Miami is coming off a third straight series win, but the last contest ended terribly for the team. The Marlins led in the ninth inning on Sunday, before they allowed a game-winning grand slam. The Marlins are now 43-58 on the season overall.

Atlanta enters this series with possession of the second Wild Card spot in the National League. The Braves are also only one game back of the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies. Atlanta entered the season without playoff aspirations, but has since become one of the top contenders in the league.

Jose Urena will start Monday's game for the Marlins and will try to avoid his tenth defeat of the season. Urena is 2-9 with a 4.39 E.R.A in 2018, though he has put together a number of quality starts. The right-hander has not received strong run support this season and that could remain a problem against Atlanta. The Braves are using starters Sean Newcomb and Julio Teheran in the series and they have both enjoyed decent campaigns.

Wei-Yin Chen will start for Miami on Tuesday afternoon and is likely pleased with the location of the game. Chen has a 1.83 E.R.A in home games this season, while he has put together a rough 10.47 E.R.A. on the road. Chen's home and road splits are due in part to the size of Marlins Park. Chen has allowed 11 home runs this season and nine of those have come on the road.

Brian Anderson is a player to watch in Monday's game, as the rookie has posted big numbers against Newcomb. In his short career, Anderson has a compiled a slashline of .625/.667/.750 against Newcomb. While the sample size is small at eight at-bats, the production is hard to ignore. Anderson's bat takes on more importance in Monday's game, as most of Miami's other hitters have struggled against Newcomb.
