Series Preview: Marlins at Nationals

The Marlins will head into a series with the Nationals following losses in 15 of their last 17 games

The Miami Marlins will try and find some rare wins in a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.

The Marlins have lost five straight games and 15 of 17 overall. Washington is sitting at .500 and is running out of time to make a push in the playoff race. The Nationals began the year with World Series aspirations, but have been inconsistent all season long.

Dan Straily will be Miami's starter in Friday's series opener and he will look to find some command. Straily has walked nine hitters in the last two games combined and it has led to some efficiency problems. The right-hander has not completed six innings in nearly a month. Straily is 4-5 with a 4.42 E.R.A this season.

Wei-Yin Chen will start Saturday's game and it could be a tough one. Chen has posted tremendous numbers in Miami, but has run into tons of trouble on the road. Chen's road E.R.A sits at 10.27, as he heads into this start at Nationals Park. The lefty has allowed eight runs in 11.2 innings against Washington in 2018.

Pablo Lopez will start Sunday's game, with some worrisome numbers against the Nationals in his career. The rookie has allowed nine runs in 10.2 innings against Washington and opposing hitters have posted a .333 batting average. The right-hander has allowed a home run in each of his last five starts and Washington certainly has the ability to extend that streak.

Friday's first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 7:05 p.m.
