D-Wade Will Play Ball if NBA Season Canceled

Dwyane Wade ends speculation about his plans if the NBA season is lost

Dwyane Wade has a basketball Jones and he doesn’t necessarily need the NBA to fix it.

The Miami Heat star said Tuesday that he “will play somewhere” next year, ending the speculation that he will stay in Miami if the NBA lockout drags on into the season.

“I'm going to play basketball this year," Wade said from New York, where he's taking some business meetings. "I don't know where, but I love the game so much that I will play it. And we will
figure that out."

Wade recently arrived back stateside from China, where he reportedly received an offer from a Chinese Basketball Association team to p[lay for $2 million a month.

Other NBA ballers have already made commitments to play overseas if the lockout drags on, including All-Star point guard Deron Williams.

But Wade is the first of Miami’s Big Three to say he is not only willing to play abroad, but it is a certainty he will be hooping away from home if the NBA doesn’t get its act together.

He would also arguably be the biggest name taking the biggest risk of injury or adding wear and tear on his body. Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant also said he would consider playing overseas, but hasn’t been as emphatic as Wade on Tuesday.

"At the end of the day, us as players, we didn't ask for this. We didn't want this," Wade said. "This is the owners' doing. They want this. They understand that we want to play… We want this game. If we as a group get together and decide we need to take other steps, then that's what we'll do."
