Which Miami Marlins Are Next on the Trading Block?

Miami Marlins shopping Ricky Nolasco and Logan Morrison, according to reports

The Miami Marlins are not done blowing up their roster. According to multiple reports, starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco and OF/1B Logan Morrison may be the next Marlins to be traded after the team shipped five starters to the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week.

Eric Boland of Newsday reported Wednesday that the New York Yankees are interested in Nolasco. Nolasco will earn $11.5 million next season, the last of his three-year, $26.5 million contract. His strikeout rate has declined steadily in recent years, from 24.8% in 2009 to 15.0% in 2012.

"I'm next anyways," Nolasco told the Sun Sentinel Wednesday when asked for his thoughts on the trade with the Blue Jays. Nolasco went 12-13 in 2012 with a 4.48 ERA. He is 76-64 with a 4.49 ERA for his big league career, all with the Marlins.

But Thursday afternoon, Marlins president David Samson said on local radio that Nolasco will be with the team in 2013.

Morrison is also being shopped, according to the Palm Beach Post. The outfielder was expected to assume first-base duties in 2013 (first base is his natural position), but with four years remaining on his initial club-controlled contract, he could be a very valuable trade asset.

Morrison hit .230 with 11 home runs in an injury shortened 2012. For his three-year career, he is a .256 hitter with a .347 on-base percentage, 36 home runs, and 126 RBI. The Marlins drafted him in the 22nd round of the 2005 draft.

It seems the only player from Miami's 2012 Opening Day lineup who is not being shopped is All-Star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. He is under club control through 2016, becoming eligible for salary arbitration after the 2013 season.

MLB.com reported Wednesday that the team has "no intention to trade" Stanton. The Marlins might try to extend Stanton's contract in the future, but they are not currently in discussions with his agent, according to MLB.com.

Most importantly, though, the Marlins' trade with the Blue Jays has been given the animation treatment by Taiwanese media company Next Media Animation. Watch it below:
