Dolphins Game Preview: Preseason Week Four vs. Falcons

The Dolphins will wrap up the preseason with a game against the Falcons on Thursday

The Miami Dolphins will finish off their preseason schedule with a game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.

In this final exhibition contest, Miami will be able to ponder some roster decisions. The Dolphins are expected to rest their starters and go with the backups all game long. There are still a few roster spots up for grabs.

Ryan Tannehill's backup has yet to be named and this game should decide that role. David Fales was considered the leading contender for the backup quarterback job early in the preseason, but that may have changed. Fales has done little to help his cause and he may need a huge game on Thursday night. Miami could go with Brock Osweiler or someone not currently on the roster, if Fales does not win the job.

Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake will see the bulk of Miami's running game in 2018, but there is still time for another player. Senorise Perry is a player who figures to pick up those additional runs and he should see plenty of action in this game. With Drake and Gore both sitting, Perry figures to be Miami's featured back against Atlanta.

Miami's tight-end competition remains open for depth chart purposes. The Dolphins know Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe will be at TE, but there are a few players battling for the remaining slots on the depth chart. A.J. Derby, Thomas Duarte, MarQueis Gray and Gavin Escobar are all players who remain in the competition.

Thursday's kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
