Dolphins Prepare For Preseason Finale

The Dolphins and Rams will battle on Thursday night in the final preseason game for both teams

The Miami Dolphins will wrap up their preseason schedule on Thursday with a home game against the St. Louis Rams.

One of the most important aspects to this game is keeping everyone healthy. The result of this game is completely insignificant but even a minor injury this close to the opener could itself be significant.

As is the case with most preseason finales in the NFL, the majority of series will be handled by reserves. The first team will see some game action to stay fresh but beyond that, it would be a risk without much of a reward.

Another reason to keep the first team off the field for more of the game is the coaches still need to take a look at some names vying to make the roster. As of now, the roster stands at 75 players and that needs to be reduced to 53 on Saturday.

Names such as Jason Fox, Tony Hills and Jelani Jenkins will have a close eye on them as those final decisions are made. A poor game can send them packing while a good game could seal the deal for their spot on the team.

With Brady Quinn having his contract terminated earlier this week, there is no longer any doubt of who will serve as Ryan Tannehill's backup going into the season. Incumbent Matt Moore held a relatively firm grip on the slot from the start and will continue to fill the role.

The preseason finale is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
