Former Miami Basketball Player Angel Rodriguez Signs Contract With Maccabi Haifa

Former University of Miami basketball point guard Angel Rodriguez will play for Maccabi Haifa in Israel, the team announced in a news release Thursday.

Miami businessman Jeff Rosen owns the team. Details of Rodriguez’s contract were not disclosed in accordance with team policy.

"We've known Angel for many years, and our plan was to one day bring his talents to Haifa," Rosen said in a statement. "We're thrilled that the day has come as we're adding an ultimate competitor and the true meaning of a leader."

Rodriguez, 24, played at Dr. Michael Krop High School before appearing in 132 collegiate games between Kansas State and Miami.

Rodriguez led the Hurricanes to the Sweet 16 as a redshirt senior. He averaged 12.6 points and 4.5 assists per game during his final season in Coral Gables and spent the 2016-17 season playing for the Cholet Basket in France.
