Home Woes Continue For Panthers

The Panthers lost at home on Monday and are now 3-4-1 on their home ice

The Florida Panthers continued to struggle at home with a 4-1 loss on Monday to the Minnesota Wild.

With the loss, Florida is now 3-4-1 at BB&T Center this year. The Panthers have dropped three of their last four games at home with their last win coming nearly two weeks ago. Overall Florida is 7-6-6 and has 20 points.

The lone goal in this game came courtesy of Shawn Thornton in the second period. It was the first goal of the year for Thornton and Dmitry Kulikov was credited with the assist. Florida had 30 shots on goal while Minnesota had 38.

Roberto Luongo allowed three of the goals with the fourth coming with an empty net. Luongo was credited with 34 saves one game after he had 48. The goalie now has a .926 on the season which is fifth best in the league.

Tomas Fleischmann, Vincent Trocheck, and Dylan Olsen were all healthy scratches for Florida. Sean Bergenheim meanwhile saw his first action in almost a month and led the team with five shots on goal.

Both teams had three power play opportunities and came up empty on all six tries combined in this one.

The Carolina Hurricanes will stop by for a visit on Wednesday as the Panthers look to win a game at home.
