Mario Edwards and P.J. Williams Declare for NFL Draft

The Florida State Seminoles lost two big pieces on the team’s defense to the NFL Tuesday as Mario Edwards and P.J. Williams both declared for April’s draft. But the biggest Seminole continued to hold everyone in suspense as Jameis Winston’s future remains unclear.

Edwards was an All-ACC player and will likely be taken in one of the first three rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft. The 6’3”, 294 pound defensive end finished last season with 23 tackles and three sacks for the Noles. He could slot in as either defensive tackle or end in the NFL.

Williams made his announcement via Twitter on Tuesday. He had 74 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, one interception and 10 passes broken up in 2014 for the Noles.

As for Winston, his father told ESPN Tuesday that his son’s announcement on his playing future wouldn’t come until after the national championship game next Monday. Speculation that Winston was heading to the NFL intensified when FSU’s director of compliance tweeted congratulations Williams, Edwards, and Winston on heading to the NFL.

The tweet from Derrick Coles was quickly deleted. If Winston declares for the draft, he’s projected to be one of the top two picks in the draft, possibly by the Tennessee Titans with the number two overall pick.
