Marlins Scatter Ten Hits in Win Over Mets

The Marlins picked up ten hits in their 6-2 win over the Mets on Wednesday in Jupiter

The Miami Marlins tallied ten hits in their 6-2 victory over the New York Mets at Roger Dean Stadium on Wednesday.

This win was the first for Miami over New York in five tries this spring, and it also snapped a three-game winless streak for the team. The Marlins have only come out on top three times since March 4th. During that span, Miami has also tied three opponents.

The ten hits for Miami came from many different sources, and that is something it will need during the season. This was a team-win and there were contributions from the starters, as well as from the bench. Miami also made the most of the hits, with four going for extra bases.

Tomas Telis started at catcher for Miami and tripled for the first time this spring. Telis also scored a run and is hitting .250. There is likely not going to be a roster spot available for the catcher on Opening Day, but he could be an option during the season.

Dee Gordon (3), Derek Dietrich (3) and Matt den Dekker (2) all doubled in the win. The double for den Dekker brought home a pair of runs, and the outfielder added another run batted in during the contest.

Justin Nicolino started for Miami and went three scoreless innings. The lefty allowed three hits, but walked none and also picked up a strikeout. It was the most encouraging outing for Nicolino thus far in the spring.

Stephen Fife was also solid for Miami on the mound. Fife went three scoreless innings himself and owns a 2.25 E.R.A in the Grapefruit League.

The Marlins are off on Thursday, and will resume the spring schedule on Friday against the Washington Nationals.
