Marlins To Host Yankees and Red Sox in 2015

The Miami Marlins released their 2015 schedule on Monday and will open the season on April 6th

The Miami Marlins remain in playoff contention this season and now also know where they will begin their 2015 campaign.

The 2015 schedule was released on Monday and it has the Marlins beginning their season at home against the Atlanta Braves on April 6th. After an off-day on the 9th, the Marlins will wrap up the opening homestand with an interleague series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Highlights in the schedule include home games against both the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. The games against the Yankees will take place on June 15th-16th while the Boston games will be August 11th-12th. In addition, the Marlins will travel to both Boston and New York for road contests.

Also coming into Marlins Park during the season will be the Baltimore Orioles as the Marlins take on all of the American League East teams. While the Toronto Blue Jays will not travel to Miami, the Marlins will head north of the border during the season.

May features a ten-game homestand against the Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks and Orioles with four coming against Arizona. It is the longest homestand of the year for Miami. It also follows a ten-game trip for the Marlins against teams that are all in the current playoff race. Those teams are the Washington Nationals, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.

There is an interesting homestand in July when the Marlins will play two consecutive four-game series against teams from Pennsylvania. The eight-game stand features the Phillies followed by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The season will wrap up on the road for the Marlins for a second consecutive season when they travel to Tampa Bay and Philadelphia for games with the Rays and Phillies. The final game in Philadelphia will be on October 4th.
