Panthers End Three Game Slide

The Panthers put an end to a three-game losing streak on Tuesday in their win

The Florida Panthers returned to the win column on Tuesday in their 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A three-game losing streak easily could have put a dent in Florida's playoff hopes. However, the Panthers were lucky that the team ahead of them has also faltered as of late. The Boston Bruins who currently hold the eighth and final spot have dropped four in a row. The Panthers sit two points back of the Bruins.

With Florida down one in the first period, Jussi Jokinen tied things up with his fifth goal of the year. The power play goal was assisted on by Brad Boyes and Brian Campbell.

Early into the second period, another power play goal put Florida ahead. The goal was courtesy of Nick Bjugstad and it was assisted on by Tomas Fleischmann and Dave Bolland. This was Bjugstad's team-leading 21st goal of the year.

Later in the period, Jimmy Hayes would add his 17th goal of the year to put Florida up by two goals. Assists on that one went to Campbell and Jokinen.

Roberto Luongo stopped 27 of the 29 tries sent his way in another fine effort. The second goal scored by Toronto came late into regulation. Luongo was 50 seconds away from a one-goal allowed performance.

Sean Bergenheim and Dmitry Kulikov both missed the game for Florida. Kulikov is currently serving a suspension for his actions in last Friday's game.

The Panthers will take a day off before taking on the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.
