Panthers Prospect Scott Timmins Breaks Into Home: Report

Scott Timmins was arrested for breaking into a San Antonio home late Sunday night

Florida Panthers prospect Scott Timmins landed in jail a few days ago after allegedly breaking into a San Antonio home following a stop at a local bar.

Timmins was arrested by San Antonio police late Sunday night at the home of San Antonio resident Benjamin Garza. Garza was not home at the time; his wife and three children discovered Timmins on their couch.

According to KENS5 in San Antonio, Garza's wife asked Timmins who he was. He replied, "Don't worry about that."

"He was yelling, 'What are you doing in my house,'" Garza told KENS5. "My wife said, 'You need to get the hell out of here.'" She and the children left the house through the back door, whereupon she called police and her husband.

When Garza arrived at the scene, he reportedly told Timmins, "You're lucky I wasn't here because I would've put a bullet between your eyes and it would've been over for you."

A center, Timmins was selected by the Panthers in the 6th round of the 2009 NHL Draft. He appeared in 19 games with the Panthers last season, and one game this season before being sent back to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, where he spent most of the 2011-12 season.

Judging from Garza's reaction to the incident, Timmins is lucky he was not around when he was discovered. "My first instinct was to beat the hell out of him," said Garza. "He needs to pay for what he did. Traumatizing my family like that."

The police report of the incident states that Timmins was heavily intoxicated when police arrived. He could not hold his balance, nor could he remember why he entered the Garza home. Timmins could only recall drinking at the Hangar, a local bar, before the incident with some teammates.
