Panthers' Skid Hits Four in 5-1 Loss to Penguins at Home

The Panthers returned home with similar results on Thursday as they lost a fourth straight game

The losses continued to pile up for the Florida Panthers when they fell 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

Florida has now lost four games in a row after a dismal road trip. Unlike three of the losses on the road, this one came in regulation to result in zero points for Florida. Overall after the defeat, the Panthers are 12-12-4 with 28 points this season.

Pittsburgh scored three goals in the first period to silence the crowd at BB&T Center. The goals all came before the 8:00 mark of the first period and removed a lot of hope for the Panthers in their return home.

In the second period, Jaromir Jagr brought the game closer with his sixth goal of the season. Jagr's goal came during a power play and had assists on it from Keith Yandle and Aleksander Barkov.

The Penguins would add another two goals in the fourth period to put the game out of reach. The fifth and final one came with an empty net situation. Roberto Luongo wound up with 25 saves on 29 chances in one of his worst outings of the season.

During power plays, Florida was more successful with the aforementioned goal during the three advantages the team had. Pittsburgh meanwhile went 0-3 on power plays.

Florida will remain home for one more game when it hosts the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
