Pine Crest B-Ball Star In Rare Company

Brandon Knight wins Gatorade Player of the Year Award

Pine Crest B-balling phenom Brandon Knight has been a stud on Miami courts since he was a pre-teen but today his name joins elite basketball royalty.

That's because Knight has joined LeBron James and Greg Oden as the only junior hoopsters to win the Gatorade National Boys' Basketball Player of the Year Award.

Knight also becomes the first player from Florida to ever win the award, a nice addition to his laundry list of accomplishments.

Aside from leading Pine Crest to two state championships, Knight holds the school records for points in a game, career points and career assists.

Knight, a 6'3" point guard, also won the Class 3A Player of the Year Award.

"He definitely is worthy of all the accolades," Dillard coach Darryl Burrows told the Sun-Sentinel. "The proof is in the talent. He's the kind of kid who's going to do something positive with the ball. Winning this is just going to raise his status — and ours as a county."
