Miami

Series Preview: Marlins at Cubs

The Marlins will be looking to win a fifth straight series in Chicago against the Cubs

The Miami Marlins will be trying for a fifth consecutive series win in their three-game set with the Chicago Cubs.

The series will take place at Wrigley Field and it will complete Miami's road trip. The Marlins are 13-20 on the season and have won eight of their last 11 games overall. Chicago is a disappointing 16-15 thus far and sits in fourth place in the National League Central.

Miami's ace Jarlin Garcia will make the start in the series opener. Garcia leads all of baseball with his 1.09 E.R.A and he has only allowed a total of two runs in his four starts. The lefty has been one of the biggest surprises in the game, after beginning the season in Miami's bullpen. Garcia has only been able to pick up one victory, but Miami has won two of the games he has started.

Jose Urena will be Miami's starting pitcher in the middle game of this series. Urena has been pitching better as of late, even though it has not resulted in victories. The right-hander is 0-5 this season and Miami has lost every game that Urena has pitched in. Urena has allowed only 2 runs in his last two appearances and each start lasted seven innings. If Urena can keep that production going, he should find the win column soon.

Wei-Yin Chen will get the ball for Miami in the series finale on Wednesday. Chen is 1-1 since coming off the disabled list and has a 4.82 E.R.A thus far. In his last outing, Chen allowed four runs in four innings. Efficiency was a major problem for the veteran, as Chen needed 82 pitches to get through that short outing. Chen also has allowed three home runs already and the Cubs have a potentially powerful lineup.

Starlin Castro hit his first home run of the season in Miami's last series. Castro has been a consistent player for the Marlins so far and this series should have some extra meaning for him. Castro began his big-league career with the Cubs and spent six seasons with them.

Justin Bour never played for the Cubs, but he was in their minor-league system. The first baseman hit his sixth home run of the season on Saturday and could another during this series. Bour has only started two games at Wrigley Field in his career and has one home run there.

Monday's game will begin at 8:05 p.m.
