Gymnast Simone Biles made her return to the Olympic stage for the balance beam and won her seventh Olympic medal. Biles pulled out of previous events citing issues with her mental health and the "twisties" but managed to overcome the obstacles for the final event.

Team USA took home six medals in Track and Field and made the podium in every medal event except for the women's hammer throw. Team USA's Athing Mu took home the gold in the Women's 800-meter final.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock dominated the competition taking gold in women's 68kg wrestling. She is the second American woman to win gold in a wrestling event and the first Black woman to win an Olympic medal in wrestling.
