The University of Miami has found a new Athletic Director -- and we're guessing you don't know his name.
UM announced it hired Shawn Eichorst as its new AD Tuesday. Eichorst has served as Deputy Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin since 2009, working under UW AD Barry Alvarez.
Alvarez is the former head football coach who UM President Donna Shalala brought to Madison more than two decades ago.
"Shawn Eichorst has the skills, experience, and philosophy to elevate UM athletics and exceed our highest expectations," Shalala told on hurricanesports.com.
"I am truly humbled and honored to have the tremendous opportunity to lead and build upon the University of Miami's rich tradition of excellence in athletics," Eichorst said.
Eichorst is now the head of one of the premiere athletic departments in the country and he has plenty of work to do. He is in charge of finding a new men's basketball coach, and needs to help newcomer Al Golden bring the football program back to the top of college football.
Eichorst is a Wisconsin native and he earned his law degree at Marquette in 1995. He played football at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
