AND THE MARATHONERS ARE OFF

Amy Cragg and the other women’s marathoners hit the streets of Rio Sunday morning. Cragg said she cried for a month after finishing fourth at the 2012 U.S. Olympic marathon trials, missing the U.S. team by one spot. Four years later, she won the U.S. Olympic marathon trials by 33 seconds to earn a trip to Rio.

IS BOLT STILL THE WORLD’S FASTEST MAN? 

Usain Bolt looks to prove he’s still the fastest man on the planet as he competes in the men’s 100m semifinal and final.

Bolt’s mother Jennifer visited her son in the Olympic village Friday and said he’s ready to defend his title. 

She said he told her, “Mom, if I wasn’t ready, I wouldn’t be here because I’m not into the losing thing. I’m ready.’’

HOW TO SEE IT: Catch the semifinal event live online beginning at 7:20 p.m. ET. Bolt is scheduled to compete in the semifinal at 8:07 p.m. ET

CAN BILES WIN MORE GOLD?

After cruising to victory in the all-around women’s event on Thursday, Simone Biles looks to add to her gold collection as she goes for her first apparatus medal in the vault final.

KEEPING IT PERFECT

The U.S. men’s and women’s basketball teams return to action on Sunday. The women, who have won all their games easily, take on China before heading to the knockout round with the top seed. On the men’s side, the team is coming off a close, three-point escape against Serbia after struggling to beat Australia. Now Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving and the rest of the squad have to face France, possibly the toughest test yet for the U.S. The French are led by NBA stars Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.

HOW TO SEE IT: The women play China at 11:15 a.m. ET, while the men play France at 1:15 p.m. ET.

THOMPSON LOOKS FOR VOLLEYBALL GOLD IN HER OLYMPIC SWAN SONG

Courtney Thompson and the U.S. women take on China in the preliminary stage of the women’s Olympic volleyball tournament.

Thompson, who joined the U.S. women’s national team in 2007, made her Olympic debut in the 2012 London Games where the U.S. women won silver. Win or lose Thompson has said Rio will be her last Olympics.

“I'm definitely going to be done playing after Rio,” Thompson said. “I've been overseas nine years. It's super fun and it's cool and we get to do all of this amazing stuff but you're also out of the country for like eight, nine months of the year. I just want to be around my friends and family.”

MATT EMMONS VIES FOR FOURTH OLYMPIC MEDAL 

Three-time Olympic medalist Matt Emmons vies for gold in the 50m rifle three positions final. Emmons began shooting competitively in high school. The Mount Holly, New Jersey, native gave all three Olympic shooting disciplines a try before deciding to pursue rifle shooting exclusively.

COOK SHAKES OFF 2012 LONDON DISAPPOINTMENT, LOOKS FOR GOLD IN RIO

Team USA’s Kassidy Cook and Abby Johnston face off with China’s powerhouse divers Shi Tingmao and He Zi.

After missing qualifying for the 2012 London Olympics by one spot, Cook suffered a string of injuries and needed major reconstructive shoulder surgery, a second shoulder surgery and a knee surgery. After rehab she earned a second quota spot for the U.S. at a qualification event in Feb. 2016.
