Detectives Search for Attempted Murder Suspect and Grandmother

Deborah Mobley Thompson threatened the witness with violence if her grandson was identified as the shooter, authorities said

Authorities in Polk County were trying to find a man wanted for attempted murder on Tuesday, and they are also looking for his grandmother who allegedly threatened a witness.

Kelvin Lewis Key-Herrington, 31, was identified as the suspect in the Saturday morning shooting in Winter Haven, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for an injury to the hand, the sheriff’s office said.

But after the shooting, his grandmother, 66-year-old Deborah Mobley Thompson, approached one of the witnesses and threatened the person with violence if her grandson was identified as the shooter, the sheriff's office said.

Detectives have an arrest warrant for Key-Herrington and Thompson.

Key-Harrington is facing charges including attempted murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Thompson is facing charges of tempering with a witness, the sheriff's office said.
