Fainting Kid Ruins Crist's Physical Fitness Day

Boy faints during governor's speech on physical fitness for kids

It's become so bad for Gov. Charlie Crist that he can't even get support for his initiatives from little kids.

Case in point Wednesday when a little boy passed out while Crist pushed his Physical Fitness Capitol Days initiative in Tallahassee. The initiative is aimed at encouraging kids to eat healthy and play outside.

The news conference, which included tennis star Chris Evert  was abruptly ended after the child fainted. The 11-year-old boy was one of about a dozen children in T-shirts and shorts who took part in the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness Capitol Days event.

The boy's head hit the Capitol courtyard pavement with a thud but like a good governor, Crist rushed over to comfort the boy by fanning him. The youngster was dazed, but never lost consciousness.

After several minutes on the ground, he was helped up.

It's unclear why the boy fainted. maybe he heard that Crist was going to outlaw chocolate milk. Or maybe he was just excited to be around Evert, a sports icon. The temperature was about 75 degrees at the time of the incident, pretty mild by Tallahassee standards.

Just moments before, Crist had presented Evert with a "point of light" award for her efforts to promote fitness.

With all the national attention on physical fitness for kids, you'd think the governor would screen these kids to make sure they are in tip top condition. You never see this happening at a Michelle Obama kick ball game.
