The parents of a 20-month-old child were arrested after police said they left him unattended in a hotel room while they ate and drank on the property.

Albert Owens, 36, and Natalie Fouche, 30, were arrested Tuesday and each charged with one count of child neglect, according to online jail records. Both were released from the Broward County Main Jail on $1,000 bond.

A Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino security supervisor, following standard procedure, responded to the couple’s room where a telephone had been unplugged. Inside, he found the boy unharmed and sleeping in the bed, according to Gary Bitner, the spokesman for the Seminole Police Department.

The staff member called police after 20 minutes and waited almost 45 minutes for the parents to return, Bitner said.

The couple admitted they had been out of the room and said they were eating and drinking on the property and unplugged the phone as to not disturb the child, according to authorities.

The child, who is almost two years old, was released to a grandmother.
