Miami Beach Golf Course Employee Finds Bag With $36,000 Inside

After Rachel Castillo discovered the money in January, police put in a special account. If no one claimed the money in 90 days, she could have taken the money.

An employee of the Miami Beach Golf Course found a bag with $36,000 inside and turned it over to police.

"One thing is to say to do the right thing and it's another to do it," said Bobby Hernandez of the Miami Beach Police.

After Rachel Castillo discovered the money in January, police put it in a special account. If no one claimed the money in 90 days, it could've been hers.

But authorities found a name and address in the bag. And even though the address was wrong, police finally found the owner of the money, Norberto Nodarse, a man in his 70s. He was living at an assisted living facility.

Through various bank transactions, police verified that it was his money.

"We really don't know how the money ended up there," Hernandez said. "He left it there at some point."

Castillo, meanwhile, will receive a certificate of appreciation. And Nodarse will be getting his money back.
