Senator: State Logo Needs to Trim Chubby Baby

Chubby baby in state logo needs to lose some weight, senator says

Florida's fanatical approach to vanity and image has officially reached obsessive and disturbing heights.

Not even babies or cartoon logos are safe from the "skinnier is better" mold that has been perpetrated on beach towels on South Beach and every Sunshine State postcard.

State Sen. Alan Hays, a Central Florida Democrat, said Tuesday that he not only wants Florida's children to go on a diet, but he also wants a state agriculture committee logo to trim the fat. The current logo features a cute, yet chubby, baby in diapers holding up a sun.

"The baby in that first slide looks too tubby," Hays said, reports the Miami Herald. "My thought was: 'Couldn't we have a slimmer baby?'"

We are all for healthy living and feeding kids the right things, but crushing a cartoon babies self-esteem seems a bit low, even for a politician.

Perhaps the 64-year-old Hays wants an infant spokesperson more in the mold of Arnold Schwarzenegger to promote eating vegetables and fruits. Then the state could change the slogan to, "Florida wants to pump (clap) you up with fruits and veggies."

Another logo on the "Fresh from Florida" kids page, which we doubt any children have actually ever visited, features six babies playing on a fruit basket and none of them look like runway model material, either.

Since when did baby fat become a bad thing - for babies?

Expect a resolution to require Florida infants to have a sculpted six-pack of abs within the year.
