The officers involved in two highly polarizing fatal shootings in Chicago – the killings of 13-year-old Adam Toledo and 22-year-old Anthony Alvarez – will not face charges, Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx announced Tuesday.

For decades, demonstrators against acts of violence targeting Black Americans have chanted: “No justice, no peace.” Since 2013, protesters in the streets and on social media have shouted that “Black Lives Matter.”

A Cook County, Illinois, prosecutor who appeared in court in a case last weekend related to the fatal police shooting of 13-year-old Adam Toledo has been placed on administrative leave after he “failed to fully present the facts,” the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office said.

Thousands turned out in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood Friday night to demand change and accountability one day after the release of body camera video showing a police officer fatally shoot 13-year-old Adam Toledo.

Body camera footage of a Chicago police officer fatally shooting a 13-year-old boy last month shows the officer yelling “Drop it!”

Video showing Chicago police fatally shooting 13-year-old Adam Toledo will be released today, along with other materials related to the investigation. Lauren Petty reports.

At the request of Adam Toledo’s family, Chicago’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability will “not immediately release” video showing the fatal shooting of the 13-year-old boy by a Chicago police officer late last month.
