Be There, The Fair, Bro

Youth Fair brings Bro action to Miami

If you hate carnies but love the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair, you’re in luck! Artists Justin Long and Meatball have created a sort of alternative fair for those who just didn’t get enough of the crowds and nauseating rides this past March.

These Miami natives and funny dudes have called their kinetic installation "The Youth Fair, Bro." Bro being the mantra of any true South Floridian and the Youth Fair the center of true, extreme verbal “bro” action.

As mechanical geniuses, who happen to have access to large amounts of scrap metal, Long and Meatball created a bicycle powered Gravitron. That’s right, someone rides a bike and a homemade version of this fair favorite spins with a vengeance, and you’re inside.

Although the opening took place last Saturday, you can experience the adrenaline rush by appointment (just contact Long at justinhlong.com) or wait until the closing on May 30th.

Also at the Fair were snacks at the Lardass food concession stand and yummy Coors Lights for all those of age. While the three or four people were shaken and stirred inside the metal contraption, the Himalaya Dance Party raged outside.

The Youth Fair, Bro closing will take place at 4141 NE 2nd Ave. Suite 103, 8 p.m.
