BY GOLLY, IT’S CAVALLI: The obviously recession-proof Bal Harbour Shops shows no signs of slowing down or closing up shop, as Roberto Cavalli was in town last Saturday to usher in the opening of his new boutique. The legendary designer smiled and posed for pics as surgically enhanced South Floridians squeezed their buxom-ness into his bodices.
BROOKE AND THE BEACH: Brooke Hogan did some rolling around in the sand alongside Stack$ on Monday for her new video, “Falling.” We wonder what her dad would say about the scantly clad blondie’s shoot, but then again he’s seen her pole dance and gyrate in next to nothing more than a few times. Maybe his retinas are scorched, too—we hope.
GRAMMY JAMMY: The 2009 Latin Grammys got underway on Thursday, bringing to town every Latin American recording artist you can conjure up and even a few whose Latin-ness wasn’t quite as obvious, like Akon and Vin Diesel. But no one stole the show quite like Paulina Rubio, who arrived in a barely booty-covering dress and performed in one even shorter. Muy caliente.
REALITY RECYCLER: Art of Shade designer Kayce Armstrong put Miami back on the reality TV map in a way that made us proud this week. The recycled-clothing queen competed in BRAVO’s “Make Me a Supermodel” Style War challenge. Armstrong, who recently opened her own shop, Shade Post, battled against nine designers to dress models for a runway show. Let’s just put it this way, her clothes were not only eco-friendly but hot as hell.
DOIN’ IT FOR THE KIDS: J.Lo made yet another appearance in Miami this weekend when she served as honorary chairperson for the March of Dimes March for Babies on Key Biscayne. With so many J.Lo sittings in the past month, we can’t help but wonder if the lovely Latina is making her way back to Miami. A little J.Lo goes a long way, if you know what we mean.
