Like Putty in Your Palm

Get a massage, a manicure, a snip and a shower at newly opened The Palms Aveda Spa

A trip to the old HydroCapsule would do you good. Lucky for you, the HydroCapsule at The Palms Aveda Spa is anything but old. In fact, the spa, which opened last week, is just one of two local spas to offer the pod-like chamber for private, luxury treatments, showers, steams and aroma and light therapies.

It’s also Aveda’s only luxury beach spa in the whole state. Centered on the brand’s earth-conscious philosophy, the 5,000 square-foot spa offers Old World earth-derived products mixed with modern day spa technology for treatments like The Green Science Anti-Aging Facial (starting at $80 for 30 minutes) to minimize the stuff (wrinkles, age spots, discolorations) you don’t want others to see on your face.

If you think you’re aging just fine, why not give your body a getaway? The Caribbean Nourishing Body Treatment ($160 for 50 minutes) uses tropical plant-based ingredients to ward off stress and induce a little R & R.

Speaking of R & R, the airy indoor/outdoor relaxation area overlooks a beautiful waterfall located just off the hotel’s botanical gardens and offers up a co-ed steam room (for hot bodies—literally) and an ice fountain to really get your circulation flowing.

You can also experience some fancy footwork outside in the al fresco Tiki Cabanas with the Open-Air Ashiatsu (starting at $160 for 50 minutes). Here you’ll find yourself underfoot of spa therapists who use ceiling beams to support themselves as they use pressure from their feet to work the kinks and knots out of your aching back.

If you prefer to have your own feet as the center of attention, however, the spa’s full-service beauty salon offers pedicures with vegan-friendly polish from SpaRitual.

Plus, to celebrate the opening of its newest addition, The Palms is throwing together a little something called “Stay, Spa and Dine, a package that lets guests take 20 percent off of dinner and spa services if they book a minimum of three nights before July 31.

Sounds like they have us right in the palm of their little hands.
