Rick Ross Loves the Kids

The Miami-raised rapper shares some words of wisdom with students

Rapper Rick Ross made a “surprise” appearance today at the Miami Gardens Job Corps.

Taking a page from the likes of Luther “Me So Horny” Campbell, who now coaches pee wee football, and Trick Daddy, who also claims to love the kids, the former Florida corrections officer visited his old ‘hood to speak to a group of students about, what else, the importance of staying in school and getting a J-O-B.

Ross is known in the community for organizing such initiatives through his non-profit, Rick Ross Charities, Inc., which has also in the past distributed Thanksgiving turkeys and hosted Be Out Day, which isn’t, as the name may suggest, a celebration of being gay, but rather a back-to-school event during which kids get new school supplies, health screenings, and some free drinks and entertainment.

Last year’s BOD ended in gunfire, but today’s event went on without incident, with Ross signing autographs, introducing some of his good word-spreading posse, and, of course, promoting his new album, Deeper Than Rap, which features kid-friendly jams such as “Murder Miami,”  “Mafia Music,” and “Valley of Death.”

Ross was also donning a baby blue Deeper Than Rap T-shirt, in which the “R”s were replaced by guns.

Perhaps it was a message to his audience to, um, shoot for the stars.
