Star-Studded

Miami openings pack a celebrity punch.

If you built it, they will come, especially if you beg their publicists, pay them an appearance fee, guarantee positive press, abide by their rider and put them up in a swanky hotel. We assume that was the case when celebrities flocked to Miami for the openings of Viceroy ICON Brickell and David Barton Gym at Gansevoort South.

The Viceroy, the hotel at ICON Brickell that also houses Club 50, drew in a crowd March 5. Sucking up the limelight were TV stars like Jon Hamm (“Mad Men”) and Jennifer Westfeldt (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and big screeners Selma Blair, Sharon Stone and Brett Ratner. Odd mix? You bet ‘cha.

While the hotel’s tip sheet, as reported by allpurposedark.com, cited Benicio Del Toro as being one to attend, there was no sign of the hunky Oscar-winning Puerto Rican at the tower trio.

According to miamiherald.com, David Barton’s new setting was also bustling that same night with footballer Jeremy Shockey, fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez and drummer Tommy Lee, who even DJed the opening soiree. The 42,000-square-foot gym and spa offers up live international DJs for guests to workout to. Apparently, Lee wasn’t just invited for free drinks and hors d'oeuvres. He must have been asked to work the party, too. We wonder if they also asked Shockey to take out the trash before calling it a night.
