10/9: How Suenalo Can You Go?

Celebrate hispanic heritage, a birthday and your cultural prowess

PLAY THAT FUNKY BEAT: Up for a little cultural absorption? Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, the Bayfront Park is hosting the DWNTWN Miami Concert Series at the Bayfront Park Amphitheater. Unwind and enjoy two of the hottest local bands in South Florida. First on the bill is Suenalo with their Afro-Cuban band blending sounds of Latin, R&B, rock and hip-hop, followed by Jahfe's cool reggae sound. Let's get together and feel alright. 9 P.M.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PURDY: We all know that "birthday" is just another word for "party harder than usual." Make sure you do so for Purdy's big day, and they're celebrating it as only Purdy Lounge knows how: cheap drinks and great music. Take advantage of their open bar from 10 p.m.- midnight, and don't forget to dress up like your favorite animal. Beware, Purdy's on the prowl for a good time. 10 P.M.

KOLYA SELF, SON: For those in an intellectual sort of mood, head over to the Wolfsonian to watch a screening of the movie, "Kolya," a movie set in the unforgettable era of the Velvet Revolution about a former concert cellist forced to play at funerals and paint tombstones for a living. When a friend suggests he marry a Russian woman so she can stay in the country, he inherits more than he bargained for: her 5-year-old son. Talk about being in a pickle. 7 P.M.
