"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" in Orlando is bringing to life the story that has sold hundreds of millions of books worldwide, and NBCMiamiis got behind the scenes access to the park this week.
It’s been 13 years since author JK Rowling introduced us to the world’s most famous boy wizard.
“I’m 18, I’ve been reading harry potter for half my life," said Ariel Bradford, who traveled from Michigan for the opening of Universal Studios' Harry Potter attraction.
Now muggles -- all you non-magic people -- have the chance to walk with wizards.
From the Hogwarts Express to butterbeer, the Wizarding world of Harry Potter stays true to Rowling's wishes. So how did Universal Orlando pitch this to her? It all started with a pop-up book.
"Like the kind you remember as a kid," desribed Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative, "and it had all this great stuff in it.”
And the rest, well, is magic.
Fans are making the journey from all over to be the first in line for Friday’s grand opening.
Bradford was one of the lucky ones who got the chance to preview Hogsmeade during technical rehearsals…
“A lot of it is just right on the spot, straight from the books," Bradford confessed. "Amazing how they can really interpret someone’s imagination and make it real.”
