Restauranteur throws lavish party for new eatery days after warehouse fire

Just three days after a fire gutted his Miami warehouse, Barton G was back doing what he does best, throwing a lavish party for the grand opening of his newest posh eatery last night.

Barton G, aka Barton Weiss, pulled out all the stops for Prelude, his new restaurant in downtown's Adrienne Arsht Center.

Hundreds of partiers sipped cocktails and were treated to a fireworks show as '70s and '80s superstars The Pointer Sisters played hits like "Jump," "Neutron Dance," and of course "I'm So Excited," at last night's opening preview.

The restaurant opens to the public today, but it nearly didn't happen after a devastating fire tore through Barton G's Little Haiti warehouse, which contained millions of dollars worth of supplies for his event planning business.

It took 60 firefighters nearly two hours to put out the blaze, which is still under investigation.

Supplies for Prelude had been kept in the warehouse, but were moved out shortly before the fire struck.

"The important thing is that there was no loss of life," Barton G said.
